Happy New Year! Health Update!

Hello Everyone!!!!!!!! Happy New Year!!!!!!!!

Well, as it turns out, I am a horrible blogger (hehe). It has been three months since I have been on here to do any sort of updates, and so much has happened since then! I have a feeling this is going to be quite a long entry so, bear with me here.

G.I.S.H.W.H.E.S
At the beginning of August, I took part in my very first gishwhes, which stands for "the Greatest International Scavenger Hunt the World Has Ever Seen". What an awesome challenge this was! I did it with 2 of my friends and we spent the week doing tasks that were strange to say the least. For more information on what gishwhes is please visit their website!  www.gishwhes.com During this week one of our challenges was to go to a ghost town and photograph or record at least Six Ghosts doing everyday things. We went out to Boston Mills (Helltown) Ohio and hiked our way down to the old barn that still stands. While down there, I went to take a step and my leg just didn't move. It was horribly painful, but I had to suck it up! I was in the middle of nowhere with about a mile and a half hike back to the car. I rested there for a little bit while we took the picture. but like I said I had to hike it back to my car. That week was so busy with me trying to get as many tasks on the list done as possible that I had kind of forgotten about it happening.

Fast forward to October, about the time I started this blog. I had this horrible pain in my left knee that was just very persistent and getting worse. So my husband, Adam, took me to the ER after work one day. I explained to the doctor that I had no idea what I had done but that the pain had been getting worse and worse for about a month or two. They took X-Rays, and made me move my leg in different directions, had me stand on just that leg and do squats....all very fun and painful!!! After all was said and done the Doctor told me that my X-Ray was "within normal readings" but that there was a small spot that could mean I could possibly have a small tear in my lateral meniscus. No Kidding, that is the description he gave me. He also said that there is only one way to know for sure and that is to get an MRI, and I quote "and that would take an act of God to get an MRI in the emergency room, and unfortunately I didn't come as him today". So, they sent me on my way with crutches, a prescription  for Mobic, and a recommendation to see an Orthopaedic surgeon. Called the surgeon who wouldn't see me without a referral from my Primary Care Physician (PCP). So I called my PCP who couldn't get me in for 3 weeks. Between the ER and my PCP appointment my Mother reminded me about getting injured during Gish, so at least I had the cause now. I went to visit my PCP, which by the way, I seriously believe that if your have an appointment to see a doctor and the doctor is running late, they should have to take $1 off the bill for each minute they make you wait past your appointment time!!!!!!!! Anyways, I digress, He spent a total of about 5 minutes looking at my knee and said (you'll never guess), you need to see an orthropaedic surgeon. He sent me on my way with another prescription of mobic and my referral. It took a week for the surgeon to get my referral, after I called obnoxiously for a week, and to set my appointment up..........for FEBRUARY 9th. No kidding! Over 3 months to see this guy!!!!!! So............ what? Am I just supposed to live in pain with an injured knee until then? Like, I cant just sit at home and not be on my feet. I work in a kitchen for cryin' out loud!!!! Yes. Yes. I have had to live and work in pain since this whole thing started. I did call my PCP back in like, November I think because these Mobic pills weren't doing shit for my pain. He sent a new prescription to the pharmacy but tbh, that did even less than the mobic. After calling the surgeon every week since my appointment was set, finally near Christmas they gave me a sooner date.....JANUARY 31. I'm so close now i can taste it! My prediction is that when I see this surgeon he is going to want me to get an MRI before he does anything. How long will it take to get that done? Who knows. If it truly is a meniscus tear then, everyone I have talked to and all the research I have done have said the same thing....surgery. Hopefully things will move much faster after this appointment!!! Fingers crossed!

This knee pain has effected everything in my life! I can no longer stand for more than 30 minutes without being in excruciating pain. I even had to change my work schedule so that I wasn't working so many days in a row. This has caused me to become extremely inactive, which has caused me to put on a lot of weight (like 40 pounds) which has made me feel super stressed and depressed. Not to mention completely unattractive! Happy newly wed Hun! Now don't touch me!
God bless my wonderful husband who has been nothing but supportive and helpful in taking care of me and helping me walk on bad days. He even had to help me shower one day because I simply could not stand that day at  all. He even moved a chair into the shower for me! He has moved the TV into our bedroom so I could be in bed and rest! And back to the living room again so I could feel human and not trapped in our bedroom! I don't know what I would have done if he wasn't with me and helped me get through all of this! Thank you baby! I love you!

So that is the big update on my health! Now onto the fun stuff!

If you know nothing else about me, know this:

Harry Potter is my Lifeblood!

I am a HUGE Harry Potter Fan.

Let me repeat that so you understand.

I AM A HUGE HARRY POTTER FAN.

I am apart of a Harry Potter group called HP Ohio. It is a group of adult fans, who put on monthly events for adult harry potter fans. It is AWESOME!!!!! We recently had our annual Crystal Ball which is a likeness to the Yule Ball in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. We sell tickets and plan the event at a castle and celebrate being awesome harry potter nerds while dressed in formal attire. We get dinner served to us and then dance the night away with drinks and friends and amazing music! Now you may be thinking, this sounds like prom. It very basically is! My dad calls it Nerd Prom. This year our theme for the night was House Pride! We all dressed in our perspective house colors and danced to different songs that represent our houses. We had games that were house specific and even got to put our names into a drawing to win wands! I decided to yet again sew my dress for the Ball!. I had 2 weeks left when I started and, Holy Cow.....SO       MUCH     SEWING.  I made a beautiful tutu style skirt with a strapless top in Blue and Bronze for that Ravenclaw Pride!

These pictures weren't taken at the Ball, but they really show off the dress!  I am really proud of how beautiful this came out! (Huge Thank you to my mom for helping me with the concept and execution of this outfit) We didn't have a pattern to make this either!

Also for the Ball this year I was commissioned to paint the house crests as part of the decorations! Really proud of them as well! The way they were displayed were amazing!

Work in Progress Update

Right now I have a few projects going on! After the Crystal ball I got Commissioned to paint a Gryffindor House Crest! I have that one started and hope to get it finished up in a couple weeks!

Also, I have decided to paint the Hogwarts House Crest for myself! I am super excited about this!!!!!
For so long I have stayed away from painting anything Harry Potter because I just felt like i wouldn't be able to do them any justice! However, after seeing how the house crests came out I have a lot more confidence!

I am also currently working on a new YouTube video! This one is going to take a while to get  done! I am a big Doctor Who fan but have never watched the Classic episodes. So I have started them finally and am going to make a video throughout it. I record a little blip about my first impression of each Doctor and then how I feel about them at the end of their run! I have made it to the 3rd Doctor, and have 10 more to go!!!!!!

As always, Thank you to everyone who takes the time to read this! I don't even know if anyone actually does read this, come to think of it. Still, I hope the universe is treating you well!

Keep the Magic Alive!
